How are points allocated?

Points are allocated according to the following algorithm:

During Fall and Spring semester, grad students who are conducting dissertation research receive 100% of points— (up to a limit of 1200 points if the REP pool is tight). In the summer, these students will have an allocation comparable to the Faculty share. After dissertation points have been subtracted, remaining points are distributed equally among the sponsoring faculty and their projects.

Adjunct faculty receive 1/2 the allocation of Department of Psychology faculty.

Faculty points will be distributed among all projects sponsored by him or her. Faculty can shift points between projects as deemed appropriate as long as the maximum allocation is not ignored.

If one faculty member requests fewer points than his or her allocation, his or her points will be distributed among remaining faculty requests.

Please note that an individual grad researchers will not be allocated more points than faculty sponsors if the REP pool is tight.
